Protecting personal data is important to us. Personal data is information that can directly or indirectly identify a natural person.

We process personal data only where necessary to provide our website, communicate with users, provide our digital offerings or comply with legal obligations.

The legal bases for processing may include Article 6(1)(b) GDPR for performing a contract or taking steps prior to entering into a contract, Article 6(1)(c) GDPR for complying with legal obligations, and Article 6(1)(f) GDPR on the basis of our legitimate interests.

This website is hosted by:

INWX provides web hosting services at hosting locations in Germany. According to INWX, processing takes place in data centres in Germany; data for web hosting purposes is provided at shared hosting locations in Germany.

When you visit our website, technically necessary connection data is processed to the extent required to deliver the website and ensure operational security and stability. This may include:

• the IP address of the requesting device
• the date and time of access
• the page or file requested
• technical information about the browser and operating system
• information about the source of the page request, where technically transmitted

Processing is based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is the secure, stable and technically reliable provision of our online offering.

Data is stored only for as long as necessary for technical operation, error analysis and system security.

Note: The specific retention period for server log files under our INWX hosting plan is not clearly stated in the INWX documents currently published and reviewed by us. We therefore deliberately do not state an unsubstantiated fixed period here.

The walkswerke.de domain is also administered through INWX GmbH.

As part of domain registration and administration, INWX processes the necessary data of the domain holder. Regulatory requirements oblige INWX, among other things, to check domain holder data for accuracy and completeness, and it may require additional verification in certain cases. This generally concerns the administration of our domain rather than visitors’ use of this website.

Our website currently does not use analytics or tracking services.

In particular, we currently do not use our own services such as:

• Google Analytics
• Matomo
• Meta Pixel
• advertising or profiling services

WALKSWERKE does not track users’ behaviour using personal data for marketing purposes.

Should technically necessary cookies be used to operate the website, they serve solely to provide technically necessary functions.

If you contact us by email, we process the information you provide, particularly:

• your email address
• your name, if supplied
• the content of your message
• other information you provide voluntarily

We process this information to handle your enquiry.

If the enquiry relates to a contract or steps prior to entering into a contract, processing is based on Article 6(1)(b) GDPR. In other cases, processing is based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR and our legitimate interest in handling enquiries and communicating with users.

Data is deleted once no longer required to handle the enquiry, provided no statutory retention obligations apply.

7. Privacy in “Halloween for Hue”

WALKSWERKE developed the “Halloween for Hue” app for local control of compatible Philips Hue lighting systems.

The app is designed so that no WALKSWERKE user account is required to use it.

The app currently uses:

• no user accounts
• no advertising
• no tracking using personal data
• no analytics or advertising SDKs
• no transmission of usage profiles to WALKSWERKE

Under its current functionality, WALKSWERKE does not collect personal data from the app.

This also corresponds to the “Data Not Collected” privacy disclosure recorded for the app in the Apple App Store.

8. Local connection to Philips Hue

To use its essential functions, “Halloween for Hue” needs access to the local network to discover and control a compatible Philips Hue Bridge or Hue Bridge Pro.

Technically necessary information about the local Hue system may be processed, such as information about:

• the Hue Bridge present
• lights
• rooms
• zones
• connection information needed for local communication

This processing provides the app functions requested by the user.

Under the current technical architecture, this information is processed locally on the device or within the local network and is not transmitted to WALKSWERKE.

The app uses the local connection exclusively to control the Hue system selected by the user.

9. App content and sound files

Visual content and audio files included in “Halloween for Hue” are provided as part of the app.

Under the current functionality, playing sounds or displaying scenes does not transmit personal usage data to WALKSWERKE.

10. No automated decision-making

WALKSWERKE does not carry out automated decision-making, including profiling within the meaning of Article 22 GDPR, in connection with this website or “Halloween for Hue”.

11. Recipients of personal data

Personal data is shared with third parties only where necessary or required by law.

For the technical operation of our website and domain, we use services provided in particular by INWX GmbH.

INWX states that it processes personal data in accordance with GDPR requirements and operates its data centres and web hosting locations in Germany.

WALKSWERKE does not share app users’ data for advertising, tracking or profiling purposes.

12. Retention periods

Personal data is generally stored only for as long as necessary for the respective purpose of processing.

Data may also be retained where statutory retention obligations apply.

After the respective retention or processing purposes cease to apply, data is deleted unless there is another legal basis for retaining it.

Subject to the applicable legal requirements, data subjects have the following rights in particular:

• access to stored personal data
• rectification of inaccurate data
• erasure of personal data
• restriction of processing
• data portability
• objection to certain processing
• withdrawal of consent with effect for the future

We reserve the right to update this privacy policy when the functions of our website or apps, the service providers we use or legal requirements change.
